Faculty of Medicine, the first nucleus of Mansoura University, was established in 1962, as a branch of the College of Medicine - Cairo University, where the study began college in the same year. Later, Mansoura university established in 1973.
The college has seventy-three academic departments, nine basic science departments twenty-six clinical medical departments. Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University awards the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery by two medical programs: integrated (credit-hour) program and Mansoura–Manchester (problem-based) program. Also, the college awarded master's degrees in 39 medical specialties and doctoral degrees in 48 major medical specialties Mansoura faculty of medicine has the total of thirteen specialized medical centers and hospitals (Urology Center, Ophthalmology Center, Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, Plastic Surgery and Burns Center, Gastrointestinal Surgery Center (GIT), Oncology Center, Emergency Hospital, Internal Medicine Specialized Hospital, University Children Hospital, Mansoura University Main Hospital). In addition, There are three medical centers under construction (Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology Center and Neurology and neurosurgery center). These medical centers and the hospital serve medical education, research process in addition to its outstanding performance in the delivery of health services to the community and to patients in the province.
Mansoura Medical Journal has been established since 1970 as a print journal, in 1988 it was registered with the World Health Organization (WHO). In 2020, it was converted into an electronic journal through the Egyptian knowledge Bank (EKB) and published electronically and in a paper format. In December 2022, Mansoura Medical Journal has migrated from EKB to the Digital Common (DC) system by Elsevier.
