Abstract
objectives: to evaluate if there isvariability in subjective perception ofvertigo in diabetic patients in comparisonto non-diabetic subjects.Methods:28 patients with diabetestype2 and 28 normal volunteersparticipatedin the present study.Monothermalcool caloric test usedtoinduce vertigo and visual analogscale(VAS) used to quantify the intensitythe perceived caloric inducedvertigo.Results: there was no significantdifference between both groupsinall study variables. There was asignificantdifference in VAS scoresbetweenboth ears in diabetic group < br />patients.Conclusion: there is abnormalvestibular performance in diabeticpatients even in the presence of normal vestibular laboratory functions.
