Abstract
Background Colonscopy is now the gold standard for colorectal screening. Colon preparation is an important parameter for adequate bowel examination. Detection of small colorectal polyps which are precusors for colorectal adenocarcinoma needs effective bowel cleansing. Aim we performed a prospective randomized controlled trail to compare bowel cleanliness, compliance, tolerability, and patient satisfaction of a single regimen versus a split regimen for colonoscopy. Results The number of detected polyps was statistically significantly higher in the split method group as compared to the single method group (p= 0.040).Also, the prevalence features of ulcerative colitis was statistically significantly higher in the split method group as compared to the single method group (p = 0.001).
